A Systematic Review of Factors Influencing Farmers’ Adoption of Organic Farming

Understanding the evidence-based factors that influence adoption of organic farming yields benefits in terms managing said effectively. We searched relevant articles published databases including Web Science, Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Google. The inclusion criteria were as follows: original article; journals, proceedings, or dissertations; full article publication; between 1999 2021; focusing on assessing conversion to farming; English; included data analyzed via correlation coefficient analysis, regression discriminant analysis. Out 50 identified, 33 studies described findings associated with farmer household factors, 32 psychobehavioral psychosocial 36 assessed supportive factors. literature provides evidence include following: (1) (i.e., gender, off-farm income, level education); (2) psycho-behavioral positive attitude, normative moral obligations); (3) farm experience, production cost, ownership); (4) training, support technology, neighbors, information acquisition, membership association, extension contacts). To promote farming, agents play a vital role provision training encouragement conventional farmers shift towards agriculture. target groups have greatest potential for are young farmers, females, individuals who ownership their farm, those high education, income. Farm associations also sharing experience increasing bargaining power. Support by government resources, credit, markets, subsidy is motivating adoption.
